A Study on the Kind of Nursing Activities which Nursing Student had Experienced and the Degree of Stress Perception during the Period of Nursing Activities


Abstract
This study was performed to examine the kind of nursing activities which nursing student had experienced, and the degree of stress perception during the period of nursing activities. The date was collected on Sep. 26, 1990.
The subject was 145 senior nursing stduents in Kunsan Kaejong Junior College of Nursing by questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed by statistical method.
The results obtained from this study are summerized as follows:
1. The total experience rate of 11 nursing fields was 78.6 %. Of which, the practice rate was 42.6 % and the observation rate was 36.0 %.
2. The practice rates in vital signs, injection preparation, intramuscular injection, oral medication preparation, and position change were 97 % and over.
3. The highest rank of inexperience rate was defibrillator (92.4 %). The inexperience rates in central venous pressure determination, colostomy irrigation, bed bath, abdominal circumference, and arterial blood collection were 64 68 %.
4. The degree of stress in 11 nursing fields; Mean score was 2.513, when maximum score was 5. The highest rank of degree of stress was suction (2.829). Elimination and irrigation (2.828), recording (2.823), and aseptic techniques (2.710) were other nursing fields of higher rank. The lowest rank of degree of stress was heat therapy (1.856).
5. The degree of stress in 50 nursing activities; The highest rank of degree of stress was vital signs (3.111). Colostomy irrigation (2.978), intravenous injection (2.918) were other nursing activities of higher rank. The lowest rank of degree of stress was heat lamp usuage (1.797).
